An Anthem on Abortion

She could feel herself drowning,

In her own pain and despair,

She was only fifteen years old,

Why was this her burden to bear?

As the fetus inside grew,

She begged everyone for support,

But since Roe v. Wade,

She knew she could never abort.

So her body was tearing,

Slowly ripping itself apart,

Her heart continued to sink,

For this was only the start.

Her parents watched with tears,

They research all day and night,

Their very souls breaking,

They knew their girl couldn't fight.

When the hopelessness finally dawns,

And she barely leaves her room,

Her future vanishes before their eyes,

Because of what festers in her womb.

They hold her close in their arms,

But the time to deliver arrived,

Her mother started wailing, her father sobbing,

Gone was their girl who didn't survive.

Yet this is not the only story,

Because in the home just down the road,

Another woman cradles her stomach,

With a stillborn child that never showed.

And so a loving mother,

Never truly became one,

But the nightmare must stay,

She can never meet her son.

But yet she couldn't abort either,

Her nonviable pregnancy,

She had to suffer nine months,

Only to hold a lifeless baby.

When she lay on the hospital bed,

Screaming and weeping in pain,

The healthcare workers watched,

Knowing nothing would be the same.

They knew that they could help,

Given her an abortion before,

But how could they go to jail,

Was this really their war?

They had seen many women in their hospital,

Admitted because of hangers and tea,

Bleeding on the verge of death,

Trying to remove their fetus unsafely.

So, the overturn of Roe v. Wade,

Will bring chaos to our society,

We must strive to understand,

That our futures are a delicate tapestry.

We all work together,

To create hope and harmony,

But controlling our women,

Can only lead to endless fatality.

We must not be pessimistic,

And stay formidable and driven,

Outlawing women their reproductive decisions,

Is an evil that cannot be forgiven.
